WWE Releases: Summer 2005 Round 2

Taken from WWE.com

WWE has decided not to proceed with any renegotiations with Bubba and D-Von Dudley. We wish both Bubba and D-Von the best in all future endeavors.

Also, World Wrestling Entertainment has come to agreements on the release of the following Superstars. WWE would like to wish them the best in their future endeavors.

* Matt Morgan
* Charlie Haas
* Jackie Gayda
* Marty Jannetty
* Dawn Marie

SD: These names are in addition to the ones posted yesterday. The total is now at 13 plus the Dudleys who are not renewing their contracts. Frankly some of these are surprising and some are not so surprising. Is this going to be an annual event until they are rebranded as one product? Certainly there is mor to it than the negotiations with Brock, the Diva Search and the move to USA. Two years in a row is suspect.

Update 4:20 PM
Add Kenzo Suzuki to the list which most likely means Hiroko as well. Bischoff sure did get the short end of the Raw/Smackdown trades didn't he?

5:15pm
Joy Giovanni added to the cull. Where is Lauren Jones?

Wow. The loss of the Dudley Boyz is big news, and the word "renegotiating" opens up further speculation as to why the Dudleys were off TV for so long.

TNA Bound. Definitely.

Dudleys could do a lot of good for both TNA and ROH. A lot of these releases actually. Some of them I fully expect to work Japan such as Matt Morgan. I expect tape trading/dealing to pick up again after this.

I think Bubba Ray and D-Von might own their gimmick names since they were in WWE with them as ECW was still rolling. I'm assuming either Paul gave them ownership or allowed Vince to buy the names from him. If the latter then it could be interesting.

But I think usually if a wrestler comes in with an established name and keeps using it that he is able to keep the rights to it such as Bam Bam Bigelo, One Man Gang, and Raven vs Crash Holly and Billy Gunn.

I'm surprised and disappointed to see Haas go. He really impressed me when I got a chance to see him work. I was really hoping he'd do something with Shelton Benjamin, either tagging with him again or feuding. It's also disappointing to see Akio go, but not surprising at all, given that he's pretty much been relegated to Velocity. I can see him making appearences in TNA pretty easily.

Cutting Dawn Marie while she's pregnant is cold, but really, it's pretty amazing she stuck around as long as she did, given that she didn't do much of anything after her feud with Torrie Wilson. I'm surprised to see that they had Marty Jannetty under contract. I assumed he was just paid for the shows he worked and that was that. Same thing with Gangrel.
