TNA News September 16, 2005

It isn't often that TNA will have enough news to get their own post. But hey -- let's give it to them.

Jeff Jarrett is once again NWA World champion. The self-proclaimed “King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett regained the NWA World Heavyweight Title on Thursday night in Oldcastle, Ontario, Canada, defeating Raven with the help of America’s Most Wanted.

In a shocking turn of events, “Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm turned their backs on the fans and aligned themselves with Jarrett, ultimately costing Raven the bout and the World Title.

The NWA World Heavyweight Title match took place under the banner of Border City Wrestling out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

SD: Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb! Especially since the show is debuting on Spike in about 2 weeks. Raven is by far a more appropriate centerpiece for a company looking to attract a bigger audience. I am so getting into this when (if?) I finally get to the appropriate section in my “On Booking” series. And I know you guys have something to say about this one, so let's hear it.

TNA arrives at the middle-to-lower class Macy's, Wal-Mart. The DVD box set, “TNA Anthology: The Epic Set” is now available exclusively at Wal-Mart Supercenter stores nationwide.

The set includes over 10 hours of Total Nonstop Action from “Victory Road 2004”, “Turning Point 2004,” and “Lockdown 2005” for only $24.96.

SD: That is an attractive offer. Maybe I’ll grab it next month and put a couple people out of work.

What's there to say? TNA prolly thinks because JJ's buddy Russo made him a champ in WCW's dying days, it means he's got name recognition... but when casual fans hear the name Jeff Jarrett, do they think of world champ or do they think boring douchebag?

Raven was a jobber on Heat a for a couple years, but even then he was more charismatic than JJ was at his best. Plus he's still got that rabid ECW fanbase.
